The main stream in Peitou that supplies water for the hotsprings of the area is Peitou Stream, a tributary of Huangkang Stream, which originates at Mt. Tatuen and Mt. Mientien. Peitou Stream is also known for the "Peitou Rock", a stone that emits low levels of radium.

The mountains of Peitou are the product of volcanic activities thousand of years ago and today still many typical features of volcanic mountains can be found, such as hotsprings, geo-thermal heat, sulfur springs and conical-shaped mountains.

**Wulai Hot Spring District**

Wulai is a small town in Taipei County, which is famous for its hot springs and aboriginal culture.
